This clock dates from around 1760.The solid and heavy, fantastically deep ruddy coloured oak case has a flat pediment with a typical “Ettry” blind fretwork panel, integral columns to the hood and a long, narrow trunk door with wide walnut crossbanding.
The 11″ wide prettily engraved brass dial with the large maker’s name and “HORTON,” has a square calendar aperture. Of thirty hour duration, the movement strikes the hour on a bell. The overall height of this clock is 6’7″. A superb example.
