David Collier, Gatley Green
David Collier of Gatley Green (Cheshire East). He was born around 1721 in Heaton Norris and worked at Gatley Green about until 1762 then moved to Eccles where he died in 1792.
The elegant case, typical of the area and period, is of oak with mahogany features and crossbanding. Mahogany columns to the hood and inset to the trunk. Side windows to the hood with a painted frieze. The case has ogee bracket feet.
13″ arched brass dial with engraved centre with well painted phases of the moon in the arch. The steel hands are blued and there is a seconds subsidiary dial and calendar feature.
The movement is of good quality, striking the hours on bell
