Thomas Bullock, Corsham

Thomas Bullock was born in Box in 1795, the son of Zephaniah, a clockmaker. He married Elizabeth who was living in Corsham by 1820, and they had seven children. He was recorded at Laycock Road then alter Pickwick Road. He died aged 57 in 1851.

The clock case is a mahogany “West Country” case  with a swan-necked pediment with a brass finial and two brass paterae. There is a characteristic wavy-edge hood door frame and ebonised columns. The case is embellished with ebony stringing and crossbanding to the base. The overall height is 82″ (2.08m) to the finial top.

The 12″ dial with brass hands has roman numerals, and a seconds dial and a calendar. It has colourful flowers in the corners.

The eight day  movement strikes the hours on a bell.
