The dial of a grandfather clock by John Morse, Malmesbur

John Morse, Malmesbury
John Morse was born in Dauntsey in 1790, married at Malmesbury Abbey in 1819 and is listed as working in the High Street in Malmesbury in 1830. The 12" square colourfully painted dial has shell decorated corners and a bird in the centre. There is also a calendar feature. The antique oak and mahogany case is 6'8" tall overall, and has a mahogany swan neck pediment. The eight day brass movement strikes the hours on a bell.
