Thomas Baker, Devizes

This is a good, small and desirable mahogany longcase clock by Thomas Baker of 7, Maryport Street, Devizes.

He is listed as working in Devizes between 1820 and 1863.

The 12″ painted dial has a seconds dial and calendar feature, with the corners decorated with flowers and shells.

The hood has a swan-neck pediment with a central brass eagle finial and brass capitals to the fluted columns.

The case is of the West Country style typical of the period. The eight day movement strikes the hours on a bell.

Overall height is 6’8″.
