John Holmes, Guildford: This antique clock by John Holmes of Guildford dates from about 1825. Fitted in a mahogany coloured scumbled pine case, the 11" square painted dial bears the signature "Holmes, Guildford". The flat topped hood has turned wooden capitals on the integral columns, and the thirty hour movement with outside countwheel strikes the hours on a bell. Overall height 6' 3"
